0G and Alibaba plug Qianwen LLM straight into onchain AI agents

0G Foundation is wiring Alibaba Cloud’s Qianwen LLM into decentralized infrastructure via token-gated access, seeding one of the first onchain commercial AI agent stacks.

    Summary

    • 0G Foundation is partnering with Alibaba Cloud to pipe its Qianwen large language model directly into decentralized infrastructure.
    • Developers will access Qianwen on-chain via a token-based mechanism, making it one of the first major commercial LLMs embedded in a decentralized agent framework.
    • The move builds on 0G’s push to seed an on-chain AI agent economy, backed by an $88.88 million ecosystem program for autonomous agents and high-performance dApps.

0G Foundation has struck a formal partnership with Alibaba Cloud to bring the Chinese tech giant’s Qianwen large language model on-chain, allowing AI agents to query a commercial-grade LLM directly from decentralized infrastructure. In a blog post outlining the tie-up, 0G described itself as “the first Artificial Intelligence Layer (AIL) and decentralized AI operating system (dAIOS),” and said the integration would help “drive next-generatio0G prepares for Kraken token listingn AI and Web3 infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region.”

Qianwen goes from cloud to chain

Under the arrangement, developers tap Qianwen inference through a token-based access mechanism rather than traditional cloud billing, effectively turning LLM calls into on-chain, meterable operations. Alibaba Cloud, which says its Tongyi Qianwen family has seen more than 90,000 deployments and now includes Qwen2.5 models ranging from 7 billion to 72 billion parameters, is positioning the partnership as a way to extend those capabilities into permissionless environments.

For 0G, the Qianwen integration slots into a broader strategy to build an on-chain “agent economy” where autonomous AI agents can own identities, pay for compute, and interact with other protocols without relying on centralized AI platforms. Earlier this year, the foundation unveiled an $88.88 million ecosystem growth program aimed at funding DeFAI agents and high-performance dApps, arguing that decentralized AI infrastructure is needed as centralized providers “buckle under demand.”

Alibaba, for its part, has been steadily expanding the Qianwen family with open and closed models, including the Qwen2.5 series and multimodal variants such as Qwen‑VL and Qwen‑Audio, and has framed enterprise access via Model Studio APIs as a way to “spark a new wave of growth momentum” for customers. Bringing that stack into a token-gated, on-chain context gives Web3 developers a way to embed the same LLM primitives inside agents that can be minted, traded, and composed like any other crypto-native asset or application logic.

If the experiment works, it may offer a concrete template for how other hyperscalers and foundation model providers can bridge cloud-native AI with decentralized coordination, turning LLM calls into programmable resources that live alongside tokens, DeFi, and on-chain governance rather than above them.
