Interesting Bitcoin art projects to check out

    NodeMonkes by Anonymous

Coming in at number one, NodeMonkes is a collection of 10,000 pixel-art monkeys inscribed early on Bitcoin. The collection gained rapid popularity thanks to its retro aesthetics and meme-driven cultural appeal. Back in 2023, it briefly surpassed its Ethereum-counterpart Bored Ape Yacht Club.

However, to this day the creator of this iconic project remains anonymous.

    Bitcoin Puppets by The Puppeteer

Launched in January 2024, the Bitcoin Puppets collection is a whimsical art project that looks like it was drawn on MS Paint. Bitcoin Puppets features edgy, satirical imagery consisting of 10,001 monkey-themed characters. Similar to NodeMonkes, its creator also remains a mystery.

The Golden Ratio and FloraForms by Harto

Created by Spanish digital artist Harto, the project consists of tens of thousands of algorithmically generated art pieces inscribed via Ordinals. The Golden Ratio and FloraForms are two artworks inspired by The Kiss. These works blend creativity and digital art through a collaboration with prestigious institutions like the Belvedere Museum.

    Cents by Rutherford Chang

Created by conceptual artist Rutherford Chang, CENTS is a deeply reflective project exploring themes related to value and materiality. It inscribed 10,000 individual U.S. copper pennies, that were created before 1982-era cents, as one‑cent digitals on satoshis.

These were then melted into a copper cube, which was later reproduced via a 4 megabyte ordinal 3D model on-chain known as “CENTS Block 839969.”

    Polylith by OTO

Polylith is a generative, time‑conceptual artwork that plays with the concept of reverse chronology. Created by Japanese artist OTO, the artwork renders visual narratives traveling from Bitcoin block 8,400,000 backward to Genesis, with each block updating the imagery.

The piece leverages ordinals‑specific features like pre-inscription, parent/child provenance, and fully on-chain metadata to craft its evolving story-timeline.

    Are We Ded by Hafftka

An animated Bitcoin ordinal depicting a skull in a colorful frame that flashes in light to dark colors as the image gets closer and closer the more you look at it, Are We Ded was created by New York-based visual artist Hafftka.

Hafftka transitioned into digital art through Bitcoin Ordinals and Ethereum NFTs, inscribing a series of pieces directly onto sats.
